WHAT IS 2D ANIMATION?

2D animation, often called classical animation, Cel animation, handwritten animation is an animation technique which each frame is drawn by hand. It was the superior type of animation until the 3D animation also known as computer animation made its first appearance in 1972 by Ed Catmull.

2D animation is the art creating movement in a two dimensional space. This includes characters, creatures, FX and backgrounds. 2D animation often seen as traditional animation has evolved from hand drawn processes using pencil and paper to the implementation of digital techniques using software like Toon boom Harmony, Adobe After Effects, Maya etc.

An animation field is similar to a gaming computer. You need fast graphics rendering a lot of processing power.

Note

You can opt for an 8GB RAM but is advisable to opt for 16GB because with RAM, more is always better.

 Processor/CPU: Intel Core i5/i7 or AMP FX. It is advised to opt for i7 because the multi reading helps divide rendering into smaller and controllable portions.

Concept drawings or arts are sketches often freehand that are used by designers such as architects, engineers and interior designers as a speedy and easy way of surveying primary ideas for designs they are not intended to be precise or definitive, it is just a technique of communication design principles.

WHY SHOULD YOU KNOW YOUR HARDWARE REQUIREMENTS?

Modern concept art is created through digital painting software and this requires a good tablet,if you

want to do a big screen with plenty of space to get into details of your artwork.The best tablet for concept art is a display tablet. This works like touch screen monitor that can mirror your computer’s screen or it can operate as a secondary screen. If you want to develop your creativity in the field of graphics or deign then you need a display tablet.

Great concept art has a notable attention to details. This comes from an artist’s years of experience but also from zooming into the smaller areas of a digital painting that’s why larger displays are preferable for concept art. But these features are not mandatory and you can find some great non-display tablets too.

WHAT ARE THE HARDWARE REQUIREMENTS FOR CONCEPT DRAWING?

The display tablet o the graphic tablet is one of the most interesting device to be connected to a computer It is important to know want you want in a tablet. When looking for a tablet for concept drawing, you should take into consideration the;

 Size: for concept drawing, it is best to get a larger display tablet made for desktops. They are easier to work on. The reason is that with the monitor like nature it allows you get into the details with your paintings.

 Resolution: It is easier to choose the resolution of the graphics tablet than its size. The only issue is that the higher the resolution the better.

 The stylus: the precision of the stylus should be taken into consideration. The principle is the higher the accuracy and the pressure levels, the better. This is because a more accurate stylus

would give better detail. It is also important that the stylus recognize the degree of inclination

in addition to the pressure, i.e. the frequency at which the position of the stylus is read. The height is also important; some tablets like Huion Kamvas offer a reading height of 10mm.

The minimum accuracy should be 0.5mm and optimal accuracy of 0.25mm.
